you really don't want to be tainted by the Windows blight, perhaps it's
time to try Linux.
Linux Distros
- Mint
Linux: Probably
the best I have tried --
less ugly than Ubuntu and less buggy than Debian, both of
which are among the best
- Xubuntu: Get Xubuntu 9.10 (Karmic Koala) -- It's
probably the most up-to-date and least buggy of all the "Ubuntus"
- Debian
Linux: Would be good if every release didn't have some bug that
takes days to figure out. Once you get it working, it's excellent.
- Of the display managers available, XFCE is the best,
most reliable, and least prone to gimcracks, gadgets, widgets, and
whatnot that just bog down your system. Avoid KDE.
